Get Ready for Junior Patrol !!

MRM Patrol Family:

It is time to sign up for the Junior Patrol! This is a wonderful program for kids and grandkids of patrollers, ages 7 through 14. It will take place for 8 weeks, every Saturday morning from January 10 to February 28th, from 9 a.m. to noon. Jessica Thomas and I will be leading the group, along with volunteer patrollers. It takes a village to make this work, so we thank you all for helping us!

The kids will meet out on the hill by the Main lift line at 9 a.m., and have a ski or snowboard lesson. From about 10:30 to 11:30, there will be an OEC lesson for the kids. They will learn how to bandage a wound, some safety basics, some intro to the human body, and various other safety-related themes. Last year, we had a nifty lesson on how to use a compass and a whistle. There are all kinds of things they can learn, and the kids pick it up quickly. After the OEC lesson, there will be lunch. Each child needs to bring their own lunch, and we will eat together in the Staff Room across the hall from the Aid Room. At noon, the children will be the parents responsibility. If you do bring something to share with the group, please mark it appropriately (GF, peanut-free, etc.) for those with allergies.

We anticipate having around 15 kids. Please watch for the SignUp Genius in the next email. We will need the names and ages of kids, their vest size for the JP vests (approximate youth small, medium, large), and whether they ski or snowboard. We will also start a Homebase Group, just for Junior Patrol news.

Let’s have a great season!
Best wishes,
